“Mental Health Matters”
May is Mental Health Awareness month, but unfortunately mental health surrounds some of us all year long. Mental health always matters.
Did you know that suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S.? Stats show that on average, 132 people die from suicide each day and that an alarming 1.4 Million Americans have attempted suicide. I hope to share that mental health or suicide thoughts are not to be shamed or hidden. We have to change the way society views mental health patients so that they know they are not alone and that help is near.
If you struggle with mental health, ME TOO. Fighting anxiety and depression is a daily battle, even with medicine. With a combination of being mindful of my mental health, prescribed meds, a support system and Jesus – there is Hope.
Let’s change the stigma of mental health and stand up for what we can’t help. We can start by taking care of ourselves, recognizing that we need help, stay consistent with the things that help your mental health and if you don’t experience it yourself, be there for those who need a support system to know they aren’t alone in their thoughts.
